Production Queries & Operations

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Clear answers on our site-specific theatre and SEA curation methods, creative mentorship programmes, technical production capabilities, and cross-continental operations across the UK, Nigeria, and Zambia.

We work across five core disciplines: site-specific & promenade theatre, socially engaged art (SEA) curation, cross-continental creative direction, creative mentorship & arts advocacy, and stage & technical production. Under Artistic Director Opeyemi Farimoyo, we deliver everything from intimate testimonial theatre to multi-city festivals across the United Kingdom, Nigeria, and Zambia.

Our Site-Specific & Promenade Theatre discipline transforms slums, public botanical gardens, historic grounds, and marketplaces into immersive performance arenas. Whether it is waterborne pontoon decks in Makoko slum or promenade routing through Grade-listed glasshouses, our technical directors design bespoke structural and acoustic solutions, produce RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements), and secure all municipal permits.

We design festivals and public platforms that combat cultural invisibility and foster community development, combining community dramaturgy, testimonial storytelling, and spoken-word and acoustic performance. Diaspora arts festival curation and civic and educational partnerships sit at the centre of every SEA programme we build.

Our Cross-Continental Creative Direction discipline manages cross-border stakeholder and artist logistics, transnational tour scheduling, and multilingual stage direction across West Africa, East Africa, and the UK diaspora — grounded in decolonial curatorial ethics and genuine intercultural collaboration.

Yes. Through Creative Mentorship & Arts Advocacy, we run technical stagecraft workshops for youth, identify and mentor grassroots talent, and design micro-grant structures with real governance behind them — as proven through The Makoko Creative Talent Awards, which has provided direct economic support to unrecognized practitioners in an under-resourced community.

Our Stage & Technical Production team delivers high-fidelity audio engineering and acoustic arrays, atmospheric lighting and colour washes, modular deck staging, and temporary structural rigging, with our own crew handling on-site technical show calling and floor management from load-in to load-out.

For festivals, multi-city tours, or full site-specific builds, we recommend engaging our production team 3 to 6 months ahead of your date. You can start by submitting our online Project Intake Form or reaching our Sheffield production desk directly at +44 7576 578903 or info@blackandwhitecraft.co.uk — our curatorial team reviews your scope and returns an initial production outline within 24 business hours.

We produce across the United Kingdom, Nigeria, and Zambia. Lead Producer Opeyemi Farimoyo holds an MSc in Financial Management from Sheffield Hallam University, and every cross-border production runs on institutional-grade fiscal governance — transparent multi-currency budgeting and strict capital allocation to guard against FX fluctuations and cost overruns.
